There are seasons where we plant, grow, and harves

There are seasons where we plant, grow, and harvest. I think there is another season mixed in - waiting and watching. Those seasons where there isn't much to be done but pruning and waiting. These are the times when we sit back and we are reminded that the results are not up to us, the harvest is out of our hands.

I've been in and out of the online space these last few months. I had forgotten what it looked like to simply live and love life without having to share or live with an agenda for social media. I had forgot what it looked like to be faithful and present with those in front of me. I have no regrets putting boundaries on this space. This is very much a season of waiting and watching. A season of pruning dead places in my heart and mind, allowing God to cultivate the areas that need work, and resting in the results that are not up to me.

My garden this year has taught me more than a few lessons. I am thankful for the ways God still teaches me and speaks to my heart. I am grateful for waiting seasons when stillness is a gift and the lessons God is weaving into my heart will bring a harvest.

I have wrestled with this thought over and over this year. “Be faithful where you are first.”

This online space can make you forget that in a hurry. It can cast your eyes on followers, likes, and (if you are like me and own a business) your bottom line. When things don’t look like we desire we instantly assume we fail. But what we forget is this space is small compared to where our feet are planted.

I’m talking about the people in front of us. I am talking about the tasks we do day in and day out that have nothing to do with this space of the internet. If we cannot be faithful where our feet our planted than why would we ever assume that God would give us space to be faithful any where else.

We get wrapped up in production and the try hard life that we miss it. I don’t want to miss out on what God has called me to steward and be faithful with right in front of me - my kids, my home, the women of my church - they matter more than the squares on this screen.

I may lose sight of this truth again because I am human, but I pray God always brings me back to the reminder to be faithful where I am first, everything else can wait.
